Living in Colorado you may need to resort to container gardening ideas for many months out of the year. Here are some cute ways to coordinate greenery into your life all year round. Here in Colorado, you can really only rely on outdoor gardening for 3-4 months out of the year. So…follow along as we find a few ways to make it feel like summer all year round with these container garden ideas. Using greenery to stage and sell your home is a great way to add a “wow” factor and make a house feel like a home!
1. Start your seedlings indoors.
The thought of starting seedlings indoors seemed like a daunting task at first. However, incorporating some of the other ideas below can also make them an accent piece to your home. Instead of using ugly plastic small containers, use the ideas below and put them in the windows of your home. And on a warm sunny day (which may happen every once in awhile during the spring in Colorado) move them outside for a little natural sun light. The wonders of Natural sunlight, can do your container garden plants well!
This summer I started some strawberries in a barrel container on our deck. As the summer drew to a close, I potted some of the sprouts into small separate pots to keep during the winter. They add a nice green addition to my home, during the brown winter months. Cheap and easy. And come summer they will be outside once again, growing my family strawberries!! I have even used these for house warming gifts! Friends and family in Colorado love them and an easy way to save money! Double win!
2. Tiered Gardening
I found a 3-tiered stand at Kirklands. If have used it for a cupcake stand, fall decor and numerous other purposes when I was not using it for container gardening. This is a quick and easy way to grow may different plants and flowers indoors during the winter and spring. And come summer (hurry up summer…) I will easily plant them outside in my garden containers for instant color! Using tiered gardening you can grown multiple herbs, vegetable, and flowers year round that you can transplant outdoors when the weather is right! Great way to add the outdoors all year long to your Colorado home!
3. Tin Gardening for herbs
I love this idea! Grab a cute garden planter next time you are at Hobby Lobby! These can often be used to store silverware or items for a family get-together (napkins, silverware, ketchup, etc.) But using this same container and dividing into sections based on herbs is brilliant! Grow parsley, mint, cilantro, basil all within the same container. This container garden idea method is easy and it doesn’t take up that much space. You can easily transport all your herbs with the ease of having them in the same container with a handle! Perfect solution for winter and spring container gardening!
All of these container gardening ideas are a great way to add warmth and color to your home, especially during the winter and spring here in Colorado. Plants are almost always used when staging a home! I mean look at examples from HGTV Fixer Upper with Joanna Gaines. She frequently brings in plants to warm up space! In staging, you want to appeal to your buyer’s emotions. Takedown personal pictures, and add universal elements to appeal to buyers! Selling or buying a home? Let us help in the process!
